Modern Kawasaki motorcycles use the Kawasaki Diagnostic System (KDS), this is a proprietary protocol for reading diagnostic information from these bikes. There is typically a KDS plug on the bike (often under the rider or pillion seat) and these plugs have had several different designs over the years, with the latest motorcycles using the OBD2 'Euro5' style of plug.
Often we see that bikes of the same model and year range have different KDS plugs which can create difficulties in connecting to on-bike harnesses. Woolich Racing has created a number of converters for these different plugs to allow the various on-bike harnesses to be adapted to the specific KDS plugs used on the bikes.
This article details the 4 different Kawasaki Diagnostic Converters offered by Woolich Racing and provides guidance about which one to use for your bike if needed.
If you need assistance in deciding whether you need a Kawasaki Diagnostic Converter or not, please feel free to open a support ticket.
The Kawasaki Diagnostic Converter Type 1, converts the opaque 4-pin Kawasaki Diagnostic System (KDS) plug to the newer 'Euro5' 6-pin red diagnostic connector.
The Kawasaki Diagnostic Converter Type 2, converts the opaque 6-pin Kawasaki Diagnostic System (KDS) plug to the newer 'Euro5' 6-pin red diagnostic connector.
The Kawasaki Diagnostic Converter Type 3 will be required with the KH5 or KH2 if the diagnostic plug is opaque instead of black on a few 2011 Kawasaki ZX14 or 2008-2010 ZX10R models.
The Kawasaki Diagnostic Converter Type 4 will be required with KH14b if the diagnostic plug is opaque. Some known 2010 models- part number 21175-0227.
